"All things Apples" a cider tasting with Pommelier Nick McDow of Kings Barrel Imports! Please joins CAPS Atlantic for our next tasting on Tuesday November 22 at Sourwood Cider! This tasting will be an educational event by Nick McDow, Certified Pommelier through the American Cider Association (2nd in Canada). Nick will share insightful knowledge of traditional cider regions, various cider styles, cider specific vocabulary, production methods, faults, and food pairings through a 7 product tasting of cider (and other apple based beverages!) to be tasted alongside terroir based cheeses. When: Tuesday November 22 Time: 7pm, tasting to begin at 7:15pm Where: Sourwood Cider, 5576 Cornwallis St, Halifax Members: $45 +hst Non-Members: $55 +hst Cheese pairings provided by Nick McDow About Nick: Growing up in the Annapolis Valley, surrounded by old and new orchards, Nick McDow began to wonder why cider wasn’t the drink of choice. After working in both the wine and beer industries, he decided to focus on cider, so in 2014 he took the Cider Appreciation and Production course at Cornell University with Peter Mitchell. After that Nick decided to go to Herefordshire, England to work a Harvest season with the renowned producers Ross-on-Wye Cider and Perry. From there, he started a small agency, King’s Barrel Imports, dedicated to representing cideries from around the world in Nova Scotia. We maintain waitlist for all our tasting events. If you are registered for an event but will not be attending, please contact Ann Miller (annemiller@ns.sympatico.ca) as soon as possible, so we can offer your seat to someone on the waitlist. Refunds can be provided to those who cancel at least 48 hours before the event. We cannot offer refunds or exchanges if you cancel because of illness or isolation requirements.
